New Directions Delaware, Inc. is a support group for people with depression or bipolar disorder (manic depression) and for their families and friends. We are located in Wilmington, Delaware, and our members come from Delaware, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Maryland.
We offer support meetings twice a month (on the second and fourth Monday) and educational meetings once a month (on the third Monday), as well as a major speaker once a year. Unless otherwise noted, our meeting are held at Aldersgate Methodist Church, 2313 Concord Pike, Fairfax, Wilmington, Delaware. Meetings begin promptly at 7:15 p.m., so arrive a few minutes early (Click here for a map)

THE MEDICAL BENEFITS OF EXERCISE
We hear much about the benefits of exercise in the media and from our health care providers, but how do we know how much, what type, or how to exercise with a chronic illness? This month, New Directions is pleased to offer more information on the medical benefits of exercise.
On Monday evening, May 21st, New Directions welcomes Guy Scotolati, M.S. and Director of Exercise Services with Eugene DuPont Preventive Medicine and Rehabilitation Institute. Mr. Scotolati works specifically with Pulmonary Rehabilitation, and will explore the exercise and health risk factor control, prescribing exercise, and the management of chronic illness. Further, he will discuss special health considerations within the context of an exercise program.
